.Kids Domains, Inc.
requires that all websites operating within the .kids network follow the
guidelines set forth in the "KDI Content Guidelines".
In order to provide
a more thorough understanding of what should be provided on a .kids website
we have made the following lists for webmasters to view and follow when
constructing websites.
General Information
1. Content suitable
for children and child interaction.
A. View the KDI Content
Guidelines in order to see which material is illegal and/or unacceptable.
2. A "One-Click"
opportunity for website viewers to report inappropriate or disturbing
content is currently being developed by .Kids Domains, Inc.
A. "One-Click"
can supply a visitor with a simple email popup form addressed to alert@kidsdomains.org.
B. Providing a form in which visitors can provide the website operator
with their views is not considered to be adherent with this rule. Users
must be able to be one click away from reporting illegal and/or unsuitable
material or the website operator will be in violation of their registration
agreement and could lose their registration privileges.
C. You may copy and paste an html link to provide this service by clicking
here.
3. Sufficient protection
against the opportunity for children accessing a .kids website to have personal
information about that child collected.
A. Website operators
are encouraged to become familiar with both COPPA and other current laws
regarding the collecting of personal information from children.
B. Each registrant is responsible for making sure that information gathered
regarding tracking of visitors to their website is not linked to an identity.
This linking will put the offender at risk of criminal and legal prosecution.
C. Those websites using interactive features such as forms or any registration
practices will need to gain parental approval prior to gathering information
as stated in COPPA. The .kids network is focused primarily upon serving an audience under 13 years of age therefore any interaction should be
treated as being done so with a child and not an adult. Safeguards to
insure that proper approval is obtained will be verified through the KDI
annual auditing process.
D. Clear privacy policies should be made available for all visitors to
understand.
4. Contact information
for the operators of the website.
A. Website operators
should make available points of contact for visitors.
B. Website operators are encouraged to provide safeguards regarding appropriate
contact between children and website operators.
